Curious how we got to Isla Barú?

While you can reach the island by car via the connecting bridge, I highly recommend the boat ride. Departing from the harbor, you’ll be treated to a picturesque view of Cartagena. You’ll find various boat companies near the famous clock tower in the harbor, or you can let one of the tour companies in Cartagena handle all the arrangements for you.

Where did we stay on this incredible adventure?

On this particular trip, we stayed in Santa Marta and made the journey down early in the morning. It’s about a four-hour trip, so I suggest staying in and around Cartagena to make the most of your time. There are plenty of fantastic accommodations at reasonable prices.

What was the climate like for our island getaway?

Imagine beautiful, clear skies, and endless sunshine. Isla Barú is a Caribbean dream, with white sand and crystal-clear waters. Remember to pack plenty of sunscreen and a sun hat to stay protected and comfortable under the radiant sun.

What about the food?

Our trip included lunch, though drinks were separate. You had the option to upgrade your lunch to include succulent lobster, which many absolutely loved. But even the standard meal of rice and chicken was exactly what we needed to fuel our adventure.

What did we do on Isla Barú?

We had ample time to relax and bask in the sun. Our package included comfy sun chairs and umbrellas for ultimate relaxation. Some of our group members went snorkeling for an hour and were absolutely thrilled by the experience. If you’re looking for more excitement, you can also rent jet skis for a thrilling ride. Just make sure to note the departure time and clarify the price beforehand. Although we didn’t encounter any issues, some people have mentioned paying for an extra hour due to unclear departure times. It’s always best to be aware and double-check.
